This is an artist run non-profit in the capitol of Canada. They have a mandate to explore the aesthetics and sensibilities of this very diverse country. A reputation for showing aboriginal and French or Franco-American art is slowly growing on them, but they show everything so don’t despair if your work isn’t a whale bone sculpted into a meat pie. They especially have a few fantastic public art programs. They have 8 solo shows a year which some how creates a conversation with contemporary art and the many medias that go along with it,....... so get applying, Eh!

Canada has a thing for artists called CAR/FAC rates. Theese are basically fees that an artist must be paid if they show. I know yet another reason Canada rocks…. Well this space pays above and beyond that mandatory fee. They also publish that they pay for your travel and transportation of the work, so there is no he said she said bullshit that often happens when a space suddenly needs to get your work back to you on their dime. There are some geographic restriction to this space depending on the call, so just do a quick check before you apply. This is a a good gallery with a “real” contemporary mandate, which means make sure your work has something to say before you go applying here. Time based, mulit-media, new media, etc…is all encouraged.
